Strengthening Home-School Partnerships for 2026-2027

At St Peter’s, we believe that children thrive when school and home work closely together. Strong communication helps us ensure that every child is supported to Love, Learn and Shine, and we are delighted to share our communication arrangements for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Following regular reflection and valuable feedback from families, we have reviewed our communication opportunities to ensure parents and carers receive meaningful information about their child’s progress, wellbeing and experiences while maintaining a sensible balance that allows staff to focus on delivering the very best education and care for children.

What’s New for 2026-2027?

One of the key changes for the coming year is within our Early Years provision. Rather than providing a written report at the end of the Autumn Term, we will now offer an earlier face-to-face consultation during the first half term.
Parents told us that having the opportunity to meet staff sooner would be more beneficial when children are settling into school, building relationships and becoming familiar with new routines. We hope this earlier conversation will provide valuable support and reassurance during those important first weeks of school life.

A Range of Opportunities Throughout the Year

Our communication calendar includes a variety of ways for families to stay informed and engaged:
  • Termly learning newsletters published through class pages on our website.
  • Parent consultation evenings throughout the year.
  • Open Classroom events where children can proudly share their learning and achievements.
  • Termly report cards and end-of-year reports shared via Arbor.
  • Individual Learning Plan (ILP) meetings for families whose children have an ILP.
  • Early Years Stay and Play sessions providing opportunities for families to experience learning alongside their child.
  • Phonics and Early Reading information evenings to support learning at home.
These opportunities combine both personalised discussions and informal sharing events, recognising that different forms of communication serve different purposes and help strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Keeping Up to Date

Alongside our formal communication events, families can stay connected with school life through:
  • Our weekly school newsletter.
  • Regular updates in the news section of our website.
  • Our school Instagram account, showcasing daily life and learning opportunities.
  • Class webpages containing key information such as PE days, curriculum overviews and year-group updates.
Together, these channels provide a rich picture of life at St Peter’s and help families celebrate the many experiences available to our children.

Tuesday 22 September at 6.00pm. Parent Phonics and Early Reading information evening. Infant story night for children at the same time.
Data TBC and communicated via newsletter and email. Early Years Autumn Stay and Play. A chance for parents and carers with children in Early Years to come into the classroom and stay and play.
Tuesday 20 October 2025 3.30pm – 5.00pm. Open classrooms Event. An opportunity to visit your child’s classroom and see their books.

Children are welcome to attend. Staff available to share common next steps and examples of assessments and expectations.
Tuesday 20 and Thursday 22 October. Early Years Induvial Parent Consultations booing will be via Arbor.
Data TBC and communicated via newsletter and email. Autumn Term Individual Learning Plan (ISP) meetings for parents with children who have an ILP.
During week beginning 14 December. Individual child report cards sent to parents via Arbor Years 1-6.
Christmas Holiday
Spring 2027 First two weeks of the term. Learning newsletters for the term for each class will be published via the class pages of the website. These provide families with an overview of learning for the term.
Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 January. Individual Parent Consultation Meetings. 3.45 – 8.15pm
Data TBC and communicated via newsletter and email. Early Years Spring Stay and Play. A chance for parents and carers with children in Early Years to come into the classroom and stay and play.
Data TBC and communicated via newsletter and email. Spring Term Individual Learning Plan (ILP) meetings for parents with children who have an ILP.
During week beginning 15 March. Individual child report cards sent to parents via Arbor.
Easter Holiday

Whilst the communication calendar provides planned opportunities for discussion, families never need to wait if they have a question, concern or information they wish to share. Our staff are available throughout the year, and appointments can be arranged by contacting the school office.
