School Council

School Council is one of the ways in which children can learn to advocate for themselves and each other. It is run by our Deputy Headteacher Miss Fishburn.

Each child is elected by their class to represent the views of all children and to think of different ways in which we can improve our school. They meet regularly with Miss Fishburn to discuss issues that are important and to support our school’s leaders. During our first meeting, we discuss the roles of the school council representatives and the purpose of our meetings.

To date we have discussed the new behaviour expectations linked to “Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe” and have made suggestions on what achieving 150 and 200 merit points would look like.  Some of the suggestions included; a celebration letter being sent from Mr Griffiths to someone special in the family or a special badge to be presented in the celebration assembly on Friday.  The school council suggestions are currently being shared with the classes to vote on.

We are also the first children to have a look at the designs that have been created by a playground design company, who have been asked to provide ideas on how to improve our outside space.  We are looking forward to seeing what has been proposed and giving our feedback on the designs!
