Woodland Adventure

May

Year Four Residential

Year four enjoyed two fantastic days and a night under canvas in their residential experience with the Castle Howard Bushcraft Company.

In the beautiful surroundings of the Castle Howard woodland children thoroughly enjoyed two superb fun filled days learning within and from the woodland environment. They learnt how to design and build shelters that would stand up to the natural elements as well as how to safely light and manage an outdoor fire to keep them warm and most importantly to cook their own burgers for lunch!

The children also developed their craft knowledge and skills making wristbands from natural materials as well as learning about the different plants, animals and mini beasts commonly found in woodlands. For some it was their first experience of a night under canvas. All the children rose to the challenge of increased independence and flourished showing great care for each other as well as their surroundings.

Thank you to all the families for supporting their children to take part in this experience as well as our staff team for planning and leading this adventure which I am sure will live long in the memories of the children.
