πŸ”πŸŒ‹ Exploring Habitats, Volcanoes and More Through Virtual Reality

Children across St Peter’s enjoyed an exciting and immersive learning experience as we welcomed Justin from EduPeopleVR into school for a series of curriculum-linked virtual reality workshops.
Using specialist VR technology, children were transported to different environments around the world, bringing their learning to life in memorable and engaging ways. Each year group experienced a workshop carefully tailored to their current learning, helping deepen understanding and spark curiosity through first-hand virtual experiences.
Our Year 1 children in Kingfishers Class explored hot and cold climates as part of their geography learning. The experience also linked beautifully to their current English work based around penguins, helping them make meaningful connections between different areas of the curriculum.
In Year 2, Sparrows Class were taken on a journey through a variety of habitats from around the world. Children explored different environments and discussed how animals have adapted to survive and thrive within them. The workshop provided a fantastic introduction to their upcoming Living Things science topic and prompted some thoughtful discussion and excellent questioning.
Our Year 3 children used virtual reality to support their learning about rocks in science. The workshop also helped strengthen links to their history work on the Stone Age, allowing children to develop a richer understanding of how these subjects connect.
Meanwhile, Year 4 children travelled virtually to explore volcanoes as part of their geography curriculum. Seeing volcanic landscapes up close in an immersive environment helped bring classroom learning to life and inspired plenty of awe and wonder.
Throughout the day, the excitement was clear to see. Children were fully engaged, eager to share their discoveries and enthusiastic about exploring places and environments that would otherwise be impossible to visit from the classroom. The workshops encouraged curiosity, discussion and critical thinking while helping children develop a deeper understanding of their topics.
Experiences such as these are a wonderful example of our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine in action. We love providing enriching opportunities that inspire children, support meaningful learning and help every child shine through memorable experiences that broaden their horizons.
We would like to thank Justin and the team at EduPeopleVR for such an engaging and inspiring day. The good news is that this is not the end of our virtual adventures. Justin will be returning after Christmas to work with our three Year 5 and 6 classes, and we know they are already looking forward to the experience!
