Celebrating Kindness, Creativity and Inclusion
The children in Kingfishers Class, taught by Mrs Pywell and Miss Ward, have been exploring some important themes this term through a wonderful range of creative activities that celebrate kindness, inclusion and caring for our world.
At the centre of their beautiful display is a giant Ferris wheel featuring every child in the class. The message, “Kingfishers Class welcomes everyone,” highlights the importance of belonging and reminds us that every child is a valued member of our school family.
The children have also reflected on who they can turn to for help when they need it. Through their thoughtful “helping hands” activity, they identified trusted adults and discussed the many people who support them both in school and at home.
Inspired by the book We Can! Make a Difference, the class explored how small actions can have a positive impact on the wider world. They learned about coastal art created from waste materials found on beaches and in the sea and discovered that St Peter was a fisherman. Using recycled materials, the children then created their own colourful fish sculptures, combining creativity with an important message about sustainability and caring for God’s world.
The display also showcases the children’s “Proud Clouds”, where they reflected on their personal achievements and the things that make them proud. Alongside this, their vibrant peacock creations celebrate the uniqueness of every child and remind us that everyone has talents and qualities worth celebrating.
Another striking feature of the display is the collection of superhero handprints. The children discussed how being a hero doesn’t always mean having superpowers. Often, it is the everyday acts of kindness, friendship and helpfulness that make the biggest difference to others.
Mrs Pywell and Miss Ward said, “We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful discussions the children have had and the creativity they have shown through this work. They have explored what it means to care for each other, celebrate their achievements and make a positive difference in the world around them.”
This learning beautifully reflects our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine. The children have shown Love through kindness, inclusion and supporting one another, Learned about sustainability, wellbeing and community, and Shone through their creativity, confidence and willingness to celebrate each other’s achievements.
What a fantastic display of the values that make Kingfishers Class such a special place to learn and grow! π
