Β Shine Bright! First Groups of Children Reach 50 Merits This Year
At St Peter’s, we love celebrating the achievements of every child, and this week we are delighted to recognise the first children who have reached the fantastic milestone of 50 merits this academic year.
This is a significant achievement. Across the school, children have earned an average of 36 merits each so far this half term, meaning that those reaching 50 merits have demonstrated exceptional commitment to our Behaviour for Learning expectations and have truly gone the extra mile in their learning, kindness and conduct.
Our behaviour approach is built on a simple but important belief: every child is an individual and every child is responsible for their own choices and behaviour. Because of this, our recognition system is designed to celebrate children individually rather than collectively. We want every child to know that their efforts, choices and acts of kindness are noticed and valued.
Children earn merits for demonstrating our Behaviour for Learning expectations, showing kindness to others, working hard in lessons and making positive choices throughout the day. Over time, these merits build towards milestone awards, with Bronze being awarded at 50 merits.
Reaching this milestone is about much more than collecting points. It reflects the positive habits, resilience and self-discipline that help children thrive both in school and beyond. By recognising these behaviours, we encourage them to become embedded and automatic, helping children develop the confidence and independence to make good choices every day.
Our personalised approach means every child has the opportunity to succeed at their own pace. Whether a child reaches 50 merits this week or later in the year, every merit represents a positive step on their individual journey.
We are incredibly proud of the children who have achieved this first milestone and look forward to celebrating many more Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond awards throughout the year.
As part of our vision to Love, Learn and Shine, these children have certainly shown how positive choices, hard work and kindness can help them shine brightly within our school community.
Well done to all our Bronze Award achievers. Keep shining! β¨
