This week, our Year 1 children in Kingsfishers and Wrens classes have been deepening their understanding of the Christian Creation Story in RE. They began by reminding themselves what God created on each day before discussing how we can care for the world around us. The children shared thoughtful ideas about looking after creation and reflected on the many things they are thankful for. Through these discussions, they explored how Christians show gratitude for God’s gifts and the importance of caring for the Earth.
Miss Ward said,“The children were able to make excellent links between the Creation Story and the ways we can look after our world every day. Their thoughtful ideas showed great understanding and care.”
Meanwhile, in Wrens class, our EYFS children built on their recent learning about creation by exploring the story of Adam naming the animals. The children used their growing phonics knowledge to write the initial sounds of different animals and enjoyed a range of animal-themed activities in provision. They demonstrated curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm as they learned through play.
Miss Renton said,“The children loved exploring the animals and were keen to use their phonics to record the sounds they could hear. It was wonderful to see their confidence and excitement as they made connections with the story.”
Across both classes, the children have shown great enthusiasm for RE, asking thoughtful questions and making meaningful links between their learning and the world around them. Through these experiences, they continue to live out our school vision to Love, Learn and Shine, showing wonder, gratitude and care for God’s creation. 🌟
