The children in Wrens have been embracing the wonders of autumn through a range of exciting hands-on learning opportunities this week.
They began the week with a variety of fine motor activities and autumn-themed small world provision using natural resources. These engaging experiences encouraged the children to explore the changing season through play, creativity and investigation.
During outdoor learning, the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork as they worked together to create an incredibly long line of autumn-coloured leaves along the garden fence. Stretching all the way to the mud kitchen, their beautiful display showcased vibrant shades of yellow, orange, red and brown. The children took great pride in their work and enjoyed celebrating the colours and textures that make autumn such a special time of year.
The excitement continues on Wednesday when the children will take part in a Signs of Autumn Walk, searching for further evidence of seasonal change in the world around them and developing their understanding of nature through first-hand experiences.

“The children have loved exploring the changes that autumn brings. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity and teamwork shine through as they investigate the natural world around them. The leaf display was a fantastic example of the children working together and taking pride in their learning.”
Through activities such as these, the children are living out our school vision to Love, Learn, Shine. They have shown care for the natural world, enthusiasm for learning and confidence in working together, making the most of every opportunity to discover and explore.

Go on an autumn walk and see how many different coloured leaves you can spot.
Create an autumn collage using leaves, sticks, seeds and other natural treasures.
Talk about the changes you notice in the weather and how trees look different during autumn.
Read a favourite autumn-themed story together and discuss the signs of the season.
Collect leaves of different shapes and sizes and sort them by colour, size or type.
