β›ͺ🌟 Learning About Christianity: A Fantastic First RE Lesson

This week, Wrens took part in their very first Religious Education (RE) lesson, and we were so impressed with how beautifully the children sat on the carpet, ready to learn. They listened carefully, showed excellent focus and enthusiasm, and learnt lots of new vocabulary.
During the lesson, the children were introduced to Tom and Tessa, who are Christians. Through their learning, they discovered that Christians worship God and that many Christians worship together in churches. We talked about what makes Christianity special and explored some of the key beliefs that Christians hold.
The children also learnt that the Christian holy book is called the Bible. Together, we read a story from the Bible called The Creation Story, which tells Christians’ beliefs about how God made the world.
After listening to the story, the children shared their own ideas and thoughts, discussing what they had heard with their friends. They enjoyed retelling different parts of the story to one another and showed great confidence when talking about their learning.
In provision, the children continued to explore the Creation Story through a range of activities. They created some beautiful colouring work linked to the story and were incredibly proud of their finished pieces. It was wonderful to see the children engaging so enthusiastically with their learning and expressing their understanding through their artwork.
We are very proud of how well the children participated in their first RE lesson. They demonstrated our school vision to Love, Learn and Shine by respecting one another’s ideas, embracing new learning and sharing their thoughts with confidence. We look forward to learning more about different religions and beliefs throughout the year.
