Learning That Connects: Year 4 Build Brilliant Food Webs

Year 4 Starlings have been loving their recent science learning as they explored the fascinating world of food chains and food webs. The children began by learning how individual food chains show the flow of energy from one living thing to another. They then took their understanding a step further by working together to connect these chains into complex and detailed food webs.
Using teamwork, discussion, and careful thinking, the children collaborated brilliantly to link producers, consumers, and predators, creating their own interconnected ecosystems. It was wonderful to see how confidently they shared ideas, supported one another, and built on their knowledge as they worked.
As the lesson progressed, the children reflected thoughtfully on how delicate these food webs can be. They discussed how human actions โ€“ such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change โ€“ can have a significant impact on the balance of these systems. This helped them to understand their role in caring for the environment and how even small actions can make a difference.
This learning perfectly reflects our school vision to Love, Learn, Shine. The children showed a love of learning through their curiosity and enthusiasm, deepened their understanding of the natural world, and truly shone as they worked collaboratively and thoughtfully.
Well done, Starlings โ€“ what fantastic young scientists you are! ๐ŸŒŸ
