We know that the summer holidays can be a wonderful time for families to make memories together, but we also recognise that the cost of days out and activities can quickly add up.
To help families enjoy more experiences for less, the Government has launched the Great British Summer Savings scheme, offering discounts on a range of family activities throughout the summer holidays.
From 25 June to 1 September 2026, VAT has been temporarily reduced from 20% to 5% on:
• Children’s meals in restaurants
• Children and family tickets to cinemas
• Theatre performances
• Concerts and exhibitions
• Admission to a wide range of attractions and visitor destinations
In addition, children aged 5–15 can travel free on buses across England during August, making it easier and more affordable to explore local attractions and enjoy days out together.
The scheme aims to help families access some of the cultural, educational and recreational experiences that enrich children’s lives beyond the classroom. Whether it’s visiting a museum, watching a family film, exploring a local attraction or enjoying a theatre performance, there are opportunities to make summer memories while spending less.
To help families find participating venues, the Government has launched an attraction finder website. Simply enter your postcode to discover offers and attractions near you.
We wanted to share this information in case it is helpful as you plan activities over the summer break, and we hope many of our families are able to take advantage of these savings.
Wishing all of our families a happy, enjoyable and affordable summer holiday. 🌞
