This morning, Charlie, Rafi, Emmeleia, Marcel, Sophie, Rosie, Michelle and Freya proudly represented St Peter’s at the Year 5 Team Maths Event, organised by the UK Maths Trust and hosted by Ashville College. Competing alongside ten teams from across the region, including Richmond House, Ashville, Westville House, Western, Oatlands and Willow Tree, our pupils demonstrated outstanding teamwork, determination and mathematical thinking throughout the morning.
We are delighted to share that the St Peter’s team achieved 4th place, a brilliant result in a strong and competitive field.

The event offered an exciting opportunity for pupils to apply their mathematical skills through teamwork, problem solving and logical reasoning, while enjoying friendly competition with children from other schools. Experiences like this strengthen our mathematics curriculum by building confidence, resilience and collaboration, and the children certainly rose to the challenge.
The team reported that they had a fantastic morning, enjoying the variety of challenges in each round, working together, and competing against other young mathematicians. They represented St Peter’s superbly, engaging with Ashville staff and pupils from other schools with maturity, enthusiasm and respect.
Mrs Robbins shared, “It was such a pleasure to accompany them to an enriching and enjoyable morning arranged by Ashville. We felt incredibly welcome and look forward to taking next year’s Year 5.”
A huge well done to all eight pupils for their enthusiasm, excellent behaviour and brilliant mathematical effort. They made St Peter’s very proud.
