βœ¨πŸ–ŒοΈ Love, Learn and Shine Through Art πŸŒ±πŸ’¬ Big Ideas, Bold Art: Environmental Street Art at St Peter’s

This term, children across Key Stage 2 have been exploring street art with a powerful social message, using creativity to express their thoughts about the world around them and how we can care for it.

Starlings: Working Together, Making an Impact

Starlings worked collaboratively to create huge wall murals, inspired by their learning about street art and recent PSHE discussions on climate change. After sharing thoughtful ideas and listening carefully to one another, the children designed bold murals that clearly communicate their environmental messages.
They worked hard to include their learning on typography, experimenting with bubble writing, block letters and wild style, while also developing their practical skills. Techniques such as stencilling and blending were used to great effect, helping the artwork feel authentic and impactful. If you look closely, you’ll even spot the children’s tags, a final touch inspired by real street artists.
Most importantly, the children demonstrated excellent teamwork, respect and creativity throughout the process. Their thoughtful approaches truly brought their ideas to life.

Herons: Thoughtful Designs Taking Shape

In Herons, children have been working on the first stage of their own street art mural, also inspired by the theme of the environment. They began by creating initial designs, carefully thinking about composition, imagery and meaning.
Their sketches explore powerful ideas such as nature, wildlife and our shared responsibility to protect the planet. Each child has shown great care in developing meaningful visuals and messages, laying strong foundations for the next stage of their work.
Next, the children will begin adding colour, helping their designs to stand out and ensuring their messages truly make an impact.

Through this exciting project, children have shown how art can be used as a voice for change. By combining creativity, collaboration and care for the world around us, they are truly living out our school vision to Love, Learn and Shine. Well done, Starlings and Herons we are so proud of you.
