🧑‍✈️💙 People Who Help Us: A Special Visitor

Here are some pictures from the Wren’s police visit yesterday, where our youngest children enjoyed a truly exciting and memorable experience.
As part of our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic, the children in Wren’s have been learning about the many different people in our community who help to keep us safe. This week, the focus was on the police, and we were incredibly lucky to welcome two police officers into school to talk to us about their important role.
The officers explained how they help people in lots of different situations, and the children listened carefully, showing great curiosity and confidence as they asked lots of thoughtful questions. There was a real buzz of excitement as the children shared what they already knew and discovered new information together.
The highlight of the morning was definitely being allowed to climb inside the police van to explore what it looks like inside. The children were fascinated by the equipment and loved imagining what it might be like to be a police officer for the day.
Miss Ward, Wren’s teacher, said:
“The children were completely engaged throughout the visit. It was wonderful to see them asking such thoughtful questions and learning first-hand about how the police help us. Experiences like this really bring our learning to life.”
One very excited child shared their thoughts afterwards:
“I liked going in the police van and pressing the siren. The police help us when we are lost and they are very kind.”
What a fantastic morning of learning, helping the children to understand the world around them, build confidence, and feel safe in their community. This experience truly reflected our school vision as the children Loved learning, Learned through real-life experiences, and Shined with curiosity and confidence.
