Starlings Take Inspiration to the Streets 🎨✨

May
The Year 4 Starlings have been exploring the exciting world of street art, using creativity and thoughtful messages to make their voices heard.
Guided by Mrs Pywell, the children began by designing their own street art tags, thinking carefully about what message they wanted to share with the world. They then looked at a range of well-known street art examples, discussing style, colour, lettering and meaning, before using these as inspiration for their own unique designs.
The classroom was full of enthusiasm as the children experimented with bold shapes, eye-catching colours and expressive fonts. Most importantly, they considered how art can be used to communicate ideas, spark conversations and make people stop and think.
Mrs Pywell shared how engaged the children were throughout the project:
β€œOne child said, β€˜Street art isn’t just pictures – it’s how artists tell people what they care about.’”
This work beautifully reflects our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine:
  • Love – by respecting different viewpoints and messages shared through art
  • Learn – by studying real-world artists and developing new creative skills
  • Shine – by confidently expressing ideas and producing artwork to be proud of
Well done to our creative Starlings for showing how powerful art can be when it has a message behind it. We can’t wait to see how their creativity continues to shine!
