More Than a Test: A Week of Calm, Courage and Care 💛 Celebrating Our Year 6 Children ⭐

As a whole school community, we want to say a huge well done to our wonderful Year 6 children for the way they approached SATs week at St Peter’s.
Throughout the week, the children showed calm, resilience and determination, approaching each test with maturity, confidence and positivity. We are incredibly proud of the way they supported one another, kept going even when things felt challenging and gave their very best each day.
As we reminded the children, these tests do not measure everything that makes them unique and special. They do not capture their kindness, creativity, humour, teamwork or the way they care for others – all the qualities that truly matter and make them who they are.
At St Peter’s, our vision to Love, Learn and Shine matters far more than any test result. Our Year 6 children have loved their school, learned so much over the years, and shone in countless ways, both inside and outside the classroom. Whatever the outcomes, they are valued, celebrated and believed in.

“SATs are simply a chance for children to show some of what they know, not everything they can do. What matters most is that they know they belong, that they are valued and that we believe in them. Every child has something special to offer, and nothing about these tests changes that.”
– Mr Paul Griffiths, Headteacher

In his letter to the children at the start of the week, Mr Griffiths also shared the words of Aristotle, which reflect everything we stand for at St Peter’s:

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

A huge thank you must also go to all our staff, who went above and beyond to support the children throughout the week from careful preparation and encouragement to calm smiles and reassuring words each morning.
A very special mention goes to Mrs Bolton, whose amazing SATs breakfasts helped set the tone for each day. The children were greeted each morning with warmth, positivity and of course the famous Mrs Bolton bacon sandwiches, which quickly became a highlight of the week and a much-loved St Peter’s tradition!
Finally, we would like to thank our families for your continued encouragement, reassurance and support. Working together, we help our children to feel confident, cared for and ready to shine.
We are so proud of our Year 6 children – a true reflection of everything it means to Love, Learn and Shine at St Peter’s.
