🕊️ Spinning Through Holy Week: Sparrows Create Easter Story Wheels

Easter and RE Learning in Sparrows – Year 2

To bring our RE unit on Easter and the story of Holy Week to a meaningful close, the Sparrows spent time revisiting the key events of this special Christian story. Together, the children recapped the main moments, talked through the order of events, and reflected on why Easter is such an important part of the Christian calendar.
To help them Love, Learn and Shine, the children created their very own Easter story wheels. Each segment represented an important day—from Palm Sunday right through to Easter Sunday—with beautiful illustrations and careful labels added by the children.
As the wheel spins, the next part of the Easter story is revealed, giving the children a hands‑on way to show their understanding and explain the chronology of Holy Week.
Miss Corrigan shared:
“I’m so proud of how thoughtfully the children approached this activity. They showed such care with their artwork and real understanding of the Easter story. Their wheels are a wonderful celebration of their learning!”
It was a joyful, reflective end to our unit and a lovely way for the Sparrows to consolidate their learning as they head into the Easter break.

🏡 Follow‑Up Ideas & Questions for Parents

If you’d like to continue the conversation at home, here are a few simple prompts to deepen your child’s thinking:
  • “Which part of the Easter wheel did you find most interesting and why?”
  • “Can you tell me the order of events in Holy Week using your wheel?”
  • “How do Christians feel during the different parts of the Easter story?”
  • “Why do you think Easter is important to Christians today?”
  • “What part of creating your wheel helped you learn the most?”
These gentle questions can help your child reflect, strengthen their understanding, and feel proud of their learning.
