We are delighted to be launching a brand‑new Climate Education Reading Spine a carefully curated collection of eco‑themed books designed to spark curiosity, inspire thoughtful conversations and help our children deepen their understanding of the world around them.
This special project has been made possible thanks to a generous donation from Mr Smith, given in loving memory of his wife Anne Marie, who loved nothing more than reading with the children at St Peter’s. We are incredibly grateful for this kindness, which has enabled the Climate Education Reading Spine to become a reality. What a wonderful legacy of love, learning and joy.
📖 How the Reading Spine Will Work
Each term, our child‑led Climate Crew will visit every classroom, delivering a specially chosen climate‑themed book inside a distinctive green drawstring bag. At a time chosen by teachers, children will enjoy these stories together — exploring themes of nature, sustainability, stewardship and our changing planet.
These books have been selected for their power to open up important conversations and nurture a sense of care and responsibility for God’s world.
At the end of each term, the Climate Crew will collect the bags and return with a new book for the next term. Over the year, classes will enjoy a rich, interconnected reading journey that supports our school vision to Love • Learn • Shine:
- Love – by developing compassion for our world and for one another
- Learn – through inspiring stories that broaden understanding and spark curiosity
- Shine – as children grow into thoughtful guardians of the future
