📚 From Art to Biography: Children’s Work That Truly Shines. 🖼️
We’re excited to share that our Shining Stars board, proudly displayed just outside the Headteacher’s office, has had a wonderful update and it’s looking fantastic,
This special space is dedicated to celebrating the incredible work produced by our children each and every week. It’s a visual showcase of the creativity, effort and excellence that shines across our school—and it’s right at the heart of St Peter’s for everyone to see, share and be inspired by.
Recent additions include:
🖌️ Kandinsky-inspired artwork from our talented Year 1 Kingfishers, who explored the abstract style of Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky. Known for his bold use of colour and shape, Kandinsky believed that art could express emotion like music. Our children have captured this beautifully in their vibrant, expressive pieces.
đź“– Biographies of Nelson Mandela written by pupils in Upper Key Stage Two, following their reading of the book ‘Journey to Jo’burg’. This powerful story, set in apartheid-era South Africa, sparked deep discussions and thoughtful writing. The children’s biographies reflect their understanding of Mandela’s courage, leadership and legacy—and show just how much they’ve grown as writers and thinkers.
These pieces are more than just work—they’re a testament to the hard work, attention to detail, and pride our children take in their learning. It’s these qualities that make their work shine. When children attend well, focus deeply and give their very best, the results are truly remarkable.
The board now also features updated photos of our children enjoying some of our newest and most loved spaces, including The Nest and our beautiful library. Alongside the images are the children’s own words, describing what these spaces mean to them—adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the display.
At St Peter’s, we believe in helping every child to Love, Learn, Shine and our Shining Stars board is a joyful celebration of that vision in action. Why not pop by and have a look during our open classrooms event this Thursday 6 November fr0m 3.30 – 5.00pm.
