Creative Writing

Jul

Children in Herons have been completing a creative unit inspired by Judith Kerr’s ‘When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit’.  This semi-autobiographical classic, written by the beloved Judith Kerr, tells the story of a Jewish family escaping Germany in the days before the Second World War.

They took on the role of the main character Anna, and wrote a letter recounting her first day at her new school in Switzerland. In their letters the children managed to get across Anna’s feelings and opinions as well as providing a snapshot as to what life was like for this family pre WW2. The children have really enjoyed the book and have produced some brilliant pieces of writing. They have also presented the creatively in fold out old fashioned travel trunks.
