πŸ’œ Excellence Through Effort: Inspired by Austin’s Butterfly πŸ’œ

As part of our Transition Week, our Year 5/6 children explored the inspiring story Austin’s Butterfly: A Story of Growth and Perseverance and discovered an important lesson about learning: excellence comes through effort, feedback and determination.
Using Austin’s journey as inspiration, the children carefully sketched butterflies before sharing their work with a learning partner. They listened thoughtfully to feedback and, most importantly, acted upon it. With each new draft, their butterfly drawings became more accurate and detailed, demonstrating how small improvements can lead to impressive results.
The images show the incredible progress made from the very first attempt to the final version. The transformation is a wonderful example of resilience, reflection and the value of embracing feedback as part of the learning process.
Mrs Robbins said, “The children were amazed by how much their work improved with each round of feedback. Austin’s Butterfly is a powerful reminder that success doesn’t happen instantly. When children listen, reflect and persevere, they can achieve remarkable things.”
This learning experience perfectly reflects our school vision to Love, Learn, Shine. The children showed a love of learning by embracing new challenges, learned from one another through thoughtful feedback, and truly shone through their perseverance and determination.
We are incredibly proud of the growth mindset demonstrated by our Year 5/6 children and the confidence they showed in improving their work one step at a time.
🌟 Take a look at the journey from the first butterfly to the final version. The progress speaks for itself!
