🥜 Working Together to Keep Our Children Safe – Nut Awareness Reminder

đź’› Nut Awareness Following a Recent Incident

At St Peter’s CE Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our children is always our highest priority. As part of our shared commitment to care for one another, we would like to remind families that we are a nut‑aware school.
Following a recent incident where a child experienced a severe allergic reaction and required hospital treatment, it is especially important that we all work together to keep every child safe and well.

🥜 What does being a nut‑aware school mean?

This includes all types of nuts and products containing nuts. We kindly ask families to ensure that packed lunches and snacks brought into school do not include nuts or nut‑based products, including:
  • Peanut butter or chocolate spreads containing nuts
  • Nut bars or mixed nut snacks
  • Pesto (often contains pine nuts, cashews or pistachios)
  • Hummus (some varieties include sesame or tahini, which can also pose allergy risks)
Please remember to check food labels carefully, as nuts can sometimes appear in unexpected products.

🤝 An important reminder about sharing food

We know that our children are kind, thoughtful and generous, and often want to share with their friends. However, food from home should never be shared in school. Even small amounts of certain foods can have serious health consequences for children with allergies.
Reminding children of this important rule plays a vital role in keeping everyone safe.
Thank you for your continued understanding, care and cooperation. By working together, we ensure that every child at St Peter’s can feel safe, included and able to shine.
