🩹 First Aid for Life: Year 6 Learn Skills That Matter

We were delighted to welcome Mr Banks into school today to work with our Year 6 children, delivering an engaging and practical first aid awareness session.
First aid is now an important part of what children learn in school, and this session helped our children develop essential knowledge and confidence that they can carry with them for life.

Learning first aid – why it matters

During the session, the children learned:
  • Basic first aid skills
  • How to recognise when someone needs help
  • The importance of key information, such as giving clear details in an emergency
  • When and how to use important emergency numbers
The children listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions and took part enthusiastically in discussions and activities.

Building confidence, care and responsibility

Learning first aid helps children to:
  • Feel more confident in unexpected situations
  • Understand how to keep themselves and others safe
  • Develop empathy and responsibility for the wellbeing of others
  • Know that even small actions can make a big difference
This learning fits perfectly with our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine. By learning first aid, children are:
  • Loving – caring for others and showing compassion
  • Learning – gaining practical knowledge and understanding
  • Shining – growing into confident, responsible young people who are ready to help others

Preparing children for the real world

First aid awareness empowers children. It helps them understand that they can play a positive role in their communities and that their actions matter. Sessions like this support not only safety, but also personal development, confidence and kindness.
We would like to thank Mr Banks for delivering such an informative and engaging session, and well done to our Year 6 children for their excellent attitude and maturity throughout the learning.
