🤝 Different Views, One Community: Respect at St Peter’s

This week at St Peter’s, our collective worship focused on the important value of respect, particularly how we can value and listen to different opinions.
Through a thoughtful and engaging worship, children explored the idea that there isn’t always a single “right” answer. Instead, we all have our own views and experiences – and learning to respect these differences is an important part of growing together as a community.
Using a relatable puppet story, children saw how two friends with different choices can still remain kind, understanding and respectful. This sparked some fantastic reflection across school, with children thinking carefully about how we speak to one another, how we listen, and how we respond when we don’t agree. We talked about simple but powerful ways to show respect, such as:
  • Listening carefully
  • Asking thoughtful questions
  • Being open to new ideas
  • Speaking with kindness
It was wonderful to see how confidently children could recognise respectful and disrespectful responses, and how clearly they understand the importance of treating others with dignity.
This learning links so strongly to our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine. By choosing to respect others’ views, children are:
  • Loving one another through kindness and understanding
  • Learning from different perspectives and experiences
  • Shining as thoughtful, respectful members of our community
A huge thank you to our worship leaders for planning and leading this session so brilliantly. The way they guided the children’s thinking, modelled respectful discussion and helped everyone engage so fully made a real impact across school. We are so proud of how our children continue to grow in confidence, compassion and respect for one another.
