✨ What is Spirituality? Helping Children Explore Life’s Big Questions

At St Peter’s, we believe that education is about much more than academic success. We want every child to flourish as a unique individual, developing a sense of who they are, how they connect with others and how they can make a positive difference in the world.
That is why we are excited to introduce our new Spirituality Poster, which helps children, staff and families understand what spirituality means in a way that is meaningful, accessible and relevant to everyday life.
Spirituality can sometimes feel like a difficult concept to define. At St Peter’s, we see spirituality as the thread woven through the life of our school, helping children ask big questions, develop a sense of wonder and deepen their understanding of themselves, others, the world around them and beliefs beyond what can be seen.

The poster brings our approach to spirituality to life through four key areas:

πŸ’› Self (Me)

Helping children reflect on who they are, recognise their thoughts and feelings and understand what makes them special.

🀝 Others

Encouraging children to build positive relationships, show kindness and develop empathy and respect for others.

🌍 Our World

Developing children’s appreciation of nature, beauty and the responsibility we all share to care for the world around us.

✨ Beyond Our World

Creating opportunities for children to wonder, reflect and engage with life’s biggest questions about meaning, purpose, faith and belief.
By using this shared language across school, we hope to help children recognise spiritual moments in everyday experiences, whether that is showing kindness to a friend, being inspired by the beauty of nature, reflecting quietly on a challenge or asking a thoughtful question about the world.
Our new poster will support worship, classroom discussions, wider curriculum experiences and moments of reflection throughout the school day. It provides a clear framework that helps children gradually deepen their understanding of spirituality as they move through the school.
Most importantly, it supports our vision of Love, Learn, Shine. Through spirituality, we help children grow in confidence, compassion, wisdom and wonder, enabling them to shine as the people.
