🎨 “Dream Big at St Peter’s: Year 2 Create a Magical Mural!”

Jun

Our Year 2 children in Sparrows have been having a wonderfully creative time exploring The Big Friendly Giant, their current English text. Inspired by the moment when the giant paints a mural of his village, the children set out on an exciting collaborative project of their own creating a beautiful class mural celebrating life at St Peter’s.

Working in small groups, the children shared their ideas thoughtfully and discussed what makes our school such a special place. It was lovely to hear their conversations as they reflected on their experiences and what St Peter’s means to them. Together, they decided what to include in their mural, carefully planning designs that represented their shared vision.
The artwork that followed was simply fantastic. The children drew vibrant pictures, included meaningful symbols, and selected powerful words such as shine, kindness, love, learn, and respect—all of which perfectly capture the spirit of our school community. Each mural is unique, filled with colour, imagination, and heartfelt meaning.
This project provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to express themselves creatively while also developing their teamwork and communication skills. It was a pleasure to see them listening to one another, valuing each other’s ideas, and working together so positively to bring their creations to life.
We are incredibly proud of the beautiful murals they have created. Not only do they brighten our space, but they also reflect our shared values and what it truly means to belong to St Peter’s. This joyful activity is a perfect example of how we live out our school vision—Love, Learn, Shine—each and every day.
