We were thrilled to celebrate the final Walking Bus of the year in style as part of Walk to School Day, and what a fantastic turnout it was! It was wonderful to see so many children and families joining us along the route from The Stray, creating a joyful and energetic start to the school day.
The Walking Bus has been a much-loved part of life at St Peter’s this year, and this final event truly captured the spirit of our school community. With smiling faces, cheerful conversations and a real sense of togetherness, the journey to school became a celebration in itself. Look out for next years dates coming at the start of September.
🌱 Why walking to school matters
Walking to school brings so many benefits for children:
- Physical health – regular walking helps children build strength, stamina and healthy habits for life.
- Mental wellbeing – starting the day with fresh air and movement can boost mood, improve focus and support a calm mindset for learning.
- Road safety awareness – the Walking Bus is a great opportunity for children to practise and strengthen their road safety skills, learning how to cross safely, stay alert and make sensible decisions.
- Independence and confidence – children grow in confidence as they develop routines and awareness of the world around them.
- Environmental responsibility – walking reduces traffic around school and helps us care for our local area.
At St Peter’s, these experiences reflect our vision to Love, Learn, Shine—helping children care for themselves, support one another and grow into thoughtful, responsible members of the community.
