🌿 Exploring, Discovering, Growing: Climate Crew Shine at Harlow Carr

Jun

On Friday 12th June, a group of our enthusiastic children from the Climate Crew enjoyed a truly memorable visit to RHS Harlow Carr, accompanied by Mrs Robbins and school governor Mrs Clarke, for the Healthy Schools Summer Event.

The day was filled with exciting, hands-on experiences designed to support health, wellbeing, and environmental awareness—bringing our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine to life beyond the classroom.

Throughout the day, the children took part in four engaging workshops:
  • 🌱 Pond Dipping and Planting
Led by the National Education Nature Park and RHS Education teams, the children explored pond life up close and learned how planting can support local biodiversity.
  • 🗣️ Pupil Voice Session
The children confidently shared their ideas with the Healthy Schools team, discussing what helps them feel happy and healthy in school—demonstrating their growing confidence and thoughtful perspectives.
  • 🦷 Oral Health Workshop
With Rosey from the Community Dental team, the children discovered practical ways to care for their teeth and understand the importance of good oral hygiene.
  • 🌼 Exploring Nature for Wellbeing
Led by Compass Phoenix, this session encouraged the children to reflect on how spending time outdoors can positively support their mental health and wellbeing.
In keeping with the event’s eco-friendly message, the group travelled by electric Transdev bus, helping to reduce their environmental impact and reinforcing the importance of sustainable choices.
We are incredibly proud of how brilliantly the children represented our school. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and teamwork shone throughout the day—they were a true credit to our school community.

Mrs Robbins shared:

“Our Climate Crew had a truly enriching day at RHS Harlow Carr. They engaged enthusiastically in every activity, from confidently sharing their views in pupil voice sessions to exploring nature and learning how it can support their mental wellbeing. Mrs Clarke and I were so proud of them.”

This wonderful experience perfectly reflected our vision to Love, Learn, Shine:
  • Love through caring for the environment and supporting one another
  • Learn through hands-on experiences and meaningful workshops
  • Shine by confidently sharing ideas and representing our school with pride
We look forward to seeing how our Climate Crew continue to grow as passionate advocates for a healthy and sustainable future!
