πŸ‹ A Zesty Way to Relax: Wrens Beat the Heat in StyleπŸ‹

During the recent heatwave, the children in Wrens discovered a wonderfully calming and imaginative way to keep cool. As the temperature soared, their outdoor area was transformed into a special spa experience, offering a unique opportunity for relaxation, sensory play and wellbeing.
The children were invited to remove their shoes and gently dip their feet into refreshing bowls of citrus-infused water. They delighted in the cool sensation, describing how it felt on their skin and noticing the subtle scent of lemon and orange. This sensory experience encouraged rich language, curiosity and exploration.
To enhance the spa atmosphere, the children were offered cucumber slices to place over their eyes. With great care (and lots of giggles!), they lay back and practised being still, taking a moment of calm and quiet in the shade. This helped them begin to understand the importance of relaxation, rest and self-care, even within a busy day of play.
Alongside this tranquil spa experience, the children also engaged in lots of exciting outdoor water play. They splashed, poured and explored with water in a variety of ways, developing their physical skills while cooling down and enjoying the refreshing feel of water on their skin.

Mrs Renton shared,

β€œIt has been so lovely to see the children embrace moments of calm and relaxation alongside their play. Experiences like this really support their emotional wellbeing and help them begin to understand how to take care of themselves.”

One child smiled and said, β€œIt feels like a real spa! My feet are all tingly and cold – I love the lemon smell!”

The Wrens showed fantastic imagination in embracing these experiences, transforming their environment into both a peaceful retreat and a playful water haven. It was a lovely way to support their emotional wellbeing, encourage mindfulness and help them regulate their bodies during a hot, sticky day.
What a wonderful way to cool down β€” finding moments of peace, calm and zen as well as fun and laughter together. At St Peter’s, opportunities like this truly help our children to Love, Learn and Shine every day.
