🌟 Sharing Stories Across Our School Family

This week in Year 5/6, our children have been busy writing imaginative mini tales. To spark their creativity, they selected a character, setting, object and problem completely at random, then challenged themselves to weave these elements into original and engaging stories.
The writing journey involved much more than simply putting pen to paper. Throughout the process, children were encouraged to rehearse their ideas orally, discussing characters, refining plots and sharing feedback with their peers before and during their writing. This strong focus on oracy helped them develop confidence, organise their thinking and bring their stories to life.
One of the most special parts of the week came when the children visited Wrens and Kingfishers to share their completed tales. As a school family, we place great value on creating meaningful opportunities for children to learn with and from one another. Our older children proudly read their stories aloud, while our younger children listened with great enthusiasm and curiosity.
These moments are about much more than celebrating excellent writing. They help children develop confidence as speakers, attentive listening skills as audiences and a sense of pride in sharing their learning with others. Seeing children of different ages coming together in this way perfectly reflects our vision of Love, Learn, Shine. Through purposeful writing, thoughtful discussion and joyful story sharing, our children demonstrated all three values beautifully.
Well done, Year 5/6, for your creativity, confidence and willingness to inspire the younger members of our school family! πŸŒŸπŸ“–β€οΈ
