π¨ Creating Community Through Colour: Year 6 Launch Mosaic Project
Today, we were delighted to welcome Artizan International into school to speak to our Year 6 children about the inspiring work their charity carries out across the world. The visit was both informative and uplifting, giving children a powerful insight into how creativity can bring communities together and create positive change.
The visit also marked the exciting launch of our Mosaic in Schools Project, which will see our Year 6 children working collaboratively to design and create two special mosaics with a strong community focus.
π¨ Two Meaningful Mosaic Projects
This year, our Year 6 children will be working in two groups, each contributing to a unique and lasting piece of artwork:
-
Young Leaders Group
As part of their Young Leaders Award, this group will design and create a mosaic for Little Cricketβs Pre-School. This project forms part of their wider community initiative and gives children the opportunity to give back in a meaningful, creative and purposeful way.
-
Remaining Year 6 children
This group will design and produce a mosaic to be displayed outside the main entrance of St Peterβs, leaving a lasting legacy of their time at our school and a warm welcome for everyone who visits.
βοΈ Ideas Taking Shape
The children have already begun exploring ideas, sketching designs and discussing how their mosaics can reflect values such as belonging, kindness and community. We are thrilled to share some of their initial designs, which show not only creativity but also thoughtful consideration of the people and spaces their artwork will serve.
The mosaic work will officially begin in June, once the boards have been carefully prepared, using the childrenβs designs as inspiration.
π Love, Learn, Shine
This project beautifully brings our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine to life. Through this experience, children are:
- Loving their community by creating artwork for others to enjoy
- Learning about global citizenship, teamwork and artistic techniques
- Shining through creativity, leadership and collaboration
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork and community spirit our Year 6 children are already showing, and we canβt wait to see their wonderful creations come to life throughout Summer 2.
