🌱 St Peter’s Achieve the RHS School Gardening Award – Level 2

We are absolutely delighted to share that St Peter’s has been awarded Level 2 of the RHS School Gardening Awards – a wonderful recognition of our children’s commitment, teamwork and care for God’s world.
Over the past year, our Climate Crew and Green Team, together with the wider school community, have transformed the back playground into a flourishing eco‑space full of life, colour and purpose. With money they proudly raised themselves, the children carefully selected and planted lavender, strawberries, raspberries, mint, parsley, marjoram, sage, heather and many other herbs.
They planned where each plant would thrive, learned how to plant and water correctly, and have taken real ownership of nurturing our ever‑growing garden. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and perseverance have shone through at every step.

“I am incredibly proud of our children for the enthusiasm, teamwork and care they have shown in building our school garden. They have created something beautiful that brings joy to our whole community. A huge thank you as well to Mrs Williams for her leadership, dedication and passion for climate education — she has inspired our children to Love, Learn and Shine in such meaningful ways.”
– Mr Griffiths, Headteacher

đź’š Gardening as Wellbeing

Gardening has now become an important part of wellbeing at St Peter’s. Our Green Team help to water and care for the plants as a calming, grounding activity during the school day. Each class also has its own “pet plant” grown from spider‑plant runners kindly donated by Mrs Jones from the plant in her office.
These leafy additions have brightened our classrooms and helped children understand responsibility and growth in a very hands‑on way.

“Seeing the children take such pride in their garden has been wonderful. They have learned so much about caring for our world and each other, and the confidence they have gained through this project is inspiring. This award celebrates their hard work and we’re already excited about what’s next!”

🌿 A Greener, Happier Playground

The new greenery has brought fresh life to our playground, making it feel brighter, more welcoming and full of joy. Whether children are playing, exploring or simply passing by, the space offers a moment of calm and connection with nature. We’ve even begun harvesting herbs for our school kitchen, bringing an extra sprinkle of flavour to our school dinners!

🌟 Love • Learn • Shine

This achievement beautifully reflects our school vision:
  • Love – caring for God’s creation and working together as a community
  • Learn – developing knowledge of nature, plants and sustainable living
  • Shine – taking pride in a project that grows, flourishes and makes a difference
We are incredibly proud of every child who has contributed their time, energy and care. This award is a testament to their dedication — and we can’t wait to continue the journey.

Onwards to Level 3! 🌱💚
