✨ Belonging and Beliefs in Wrens: Exploring Our World Views

🕊️ Where Do We Belong? Wrens Discover Faith, Family and Community🌍

🌈 Wrens RE & World Views Learning

This week in Wrens, our children have been exploring some of life’s big questions as part of their RE and World Views learning:
  • Where do we belong?
  • Which groups do some religious people belong to?
We began by thinking about belonging in a way that felt personal and meaningful for the children. They proudly shared how they belong to their families, how we all belong to our St Peter’s school community, and even talked about extra groups and clubs some of them enjoy outside of school. This sparked lovely conversations full of joy and connection.
From here, we turned our attention to belonging within different religions. The children were fascinated to learn that just like they belong to groups, many people also feel a sense of belonging within their faith communities. To help them explore the symbols linked to different religions, the children used playdough to create their own versions — a hands‑on way to deepen recognition and understanding.

💬

“The children showed such curiosity and kindness as they learnt about different religious symbols. It was wonderful to see them making connections between their own experiences of belonging and the way others find belonging through faith.”Mrs Renton

This learning beautifully links to our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine  learning to love and understand others, learning more about the world around us, and shining with respect for different beliefs.

🏡 Follow‑Up Ideas for Home

If you’d like to continue the conversation at home, here are some simple ways to build on this week’s learning:
  • Share your own stories of belonging
Talk about a group you belong to now, or one you were part of as a child.
  • Symbol spotting
Look for religious symbols together when out and about — on buildings, signs, or in books.
  • Make your own “family or group symbol”
Draw or craft a symbol that represents your family or something your child belongs to.
  • Books about belonging
Enjoy a bedtime story that explores community, friends or family.
