🌟 Teamwork in Action: Our Children Shine at Dodgeball

Mrs Oldfield had the pleasure of taking 11 very enthusiastic Year 3 and 4 children to a dodgeball competition at Harrogate High School on Wednesday this week, where they played against teams from four other schools. The children showed fantastic teamwork, energy, and sportsmanship throughout the matches.
It was a wonderful opportunity for them to develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy healthy competition in a fun and supportive environment. A special mention goes to Harvey, who proudly received a certificate for Respect from the Sporting Influence team what an achievement!

Mrs Oldfield shared:
“I was so proud of how our children supported each other and played with such enthusiasm. They represented St Peter’s beautifully – showing kindness, resilience, and respect throughout the day.”

Alongside the excitement of the competition, the children discovered some fascinating facts about dodgeball:
  • Did you know dodgeball originated in Africa over 200 years ago, where it was played with rocks and sticks? Thankfully, it’s much safer now!
  • The official dodgeball court is the same size as a volleyball court – 18m x 9m.
  • Dodgeball is played in over 30 countries and even has a World Championship!
Playing dodgeball isn’t just fun it’s great for health too! It helps children improve agility and coordination, boost cardiovascular fitness, and develop teamwork and social skills. All that dodging and diving is brilliant for building confidence and friendships. This event was a fantastic example of how our children truly Love, Learn, Shine – loving the game, learning new skills, and shining through their respect and teamwork.
