🌍 Exploring the Past: Dinosaur Dig Sparks Curiosity!

Love, Learn, Shine in Early Years – Dinosaur Dig Role Play!
This half term, our Early Years children have been transported back in time to the age of the dinosaurs! Our exciting Dinosaur Dig Role Play Area is packed with opportunities for learning through play, exploration, and imagination.
Children have loved becoming palaeontologists, carefully digging for bones in our very own dinosaur excavation site. They’ve marvelled at a wonderful dinosaur skeleton made entirely from recycled materials, showing how creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.
The area is brimming with dinosaur books to spark curiosity, and there are plenty of chances for children to write their own dinosaur facts, stories, and labels – developing early literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.

Mrs Renton says:
“It’s amazing to see the children so absorbed in their learning. They’re asking brilliant questions and working together to uncover the secrets of the past!”

Miss Ward adds:“The dinosaur dig has really captured their imagination. It’s a fantastic way to combine role play, science, and creativity – all while having fun!”

Ideas for Home

  • Create a mini dinosaur dig using sand or soil and hide small toy dinosaurs or bones for your child to discover.
  • Make a dinosaur skeleton from pasta or sticks – great for fine motor skills and creativity.
  • Read together: Explore dinosaur books from the library or online.
  • Write and draw: Encourage your child to make a “Dinosaur Fact Book” with pictures and simple sentences.
