❄️ Frozen Wonders: Starlings’ Descriptive Writing Journey

Starlings have been exploring the icy beauty of the Arctic through their writing this week! Using expanded noun phrases, the children created stunning descriptive sentences that painted vivid pictures of frozen landscapes. Some even went the extra mile by weaving in similes and personification, bringing the Arctic to life in their words.

Here’s one example from the children’s work:

“The shimmering, silver snow sparkled like a blanket of diamonds beneath the pale winter sun.”

Mrs Pywell shared her delight:

“I’m so proud of how the children have embraced descriptive language. Their creativity and imagination have truly shone through – it’s like stepping into a winter wonderland!”

This learning links beautifully to our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine – the children showed a real love for language, learned new techniques, and shone brightly with their expressive ideas.
