🌱 From Garden to Kitchen: Exploring Winter Veg with Starlings & Herons 🍴

Dec
This term, Starlings and Herons have been diving into the delicious world of seasonal cooking as part of their Design Technology unit. The children explored a variety of winter vegetables tasting, evaluating, and sharing their thoughts. Some veggies were met with enthusiastic thumbs up, while others… well, let’s just say they sparked some lively discussion!
After learning about seasonal produce and why it’s good for both our health and the planet, the children designed their very own winter tart, carefully selecting ingredients from a choice of options. Next week, we’ll be bringing those designs to life in the kitchen so keep an eye out for our next update and plenty of photos of the finished creations!

Mrs Robbins, Herons’ class teacher and curriculum lead, shared:
“It’s been wonderful to see the children thinking like designers—making choices, considering flavours, and planning their creations. This project really brings learning to life and shows how food connects us to the seasons.”
