🌿 Mindful Moments in Sparrows Class

πŸ’ Happy Thoughts and Mindful Breathing in Year 2 😊

This afternoon, our Year 2 Sparrows children enjoyed a special mindfulness moment with Miss Corrigan after lunch. It was a wonderful way to help everyone feel calm and focused, ready for our My Happy Mind learning session.

The children practised gentle breathing exercises and spent time thinking about things that make them feel happy, especially when worries pop up. These quiet moments are so important for helping children build resilience and emotional wellbeing.
Miss Corrigan shared:
β€œTaking time to pause and breathe helps us feel ready to learn and reminds us that happy thoughts can make a big difference when we’re feeling worried.”

Ideas for Parents to Try at Home

  • Mindful Breathing Together: Take a few minutes to breathe slowly with your child – in through the nose, out through the mouth.
  • Happy Thought Jar: Create a jar where your child can write or draw things that make them happy.
  • Calm Corner: Set up a cosy space with a favourite book or soft toy for quiet time when they need it.
These simple activities support the same positive habits we’re building in school and help children feel loved, ready to learn, and able to shine every day.
