🍍 Design, Make, Taste – Year 2 Shine with Fruit Kebabs 🥝

At the end of last week, the children in Miss Corrigan’s class were busy turning their fantastic designs from Thursday into delicious reality! As part of our Design & Technology project, they created their very own fruit kebabs.
The children practised their chopping skills carefully and thought about the patterns they could make with the colourful fruit pieces. They also explored how these tasty creations contribute to a balanced diet and help us reach our five portions of fruit and vegetables each day.
“I loved making my kebab because I could choose my favourite fruits and make a rainbow pattern!” – Year 2 child

Follow-Up Ideas for Home

  • Make your own fruit kebabs together – try adding a new fruit your child hasn’t tasted before.
  • Talk about healthy eating – discuss why fruit and vegetables are important for our bodies.
  • Get creative with patterns – can your child make a repeating pattern or a rainbow design?

Questions Parents Can Ask

  • Which fruits did you choose for your kebab and why?
  • How did you make sure your kebab was healthy?
  • What pattern did you create with your fruit pieces?
  • Can you name other ways to eat your five-a-day?
