🌟 Love, Learn, Shine with Courage – Our Half Term ThemeπŸ’ͺ Finding Courage Beyond Our Comfort Zone

This week in collective worship, our children have been exploring the value of Courage – a theme that will guide us through this half term.
We began by looking at the story of Moses and the Burning Bush, a powerful reminder that courage often means stepping out of our comfort zone and trusting in what lies ahead. Just like Moses faced challenges and uncertainty, we talked about the times when we might need courage in our own lives – whether that’s trying something new, speaking up for what’s right, or facing a difficult situation with confidence.
To help deepen our understanding, we introduced the Courage Acrostic,
breaking down what courage looks like in action. Children reflected on how courage isn’t just about big, dramatic moments it’s also about everyday choices that help us grow and shine.

Questions for Families to Explore at Home

  • When have you needed courage to do something new or challenging?
  • Why do you think stepping out of your comfort zone can help you grow?
  • How can we encourage each other to be brave when things feel difficult?
  • What does courage look like in our family values and daily life?

Follow-Up Ideas for Home

  • Create a Courage Jar: Write down brave things you’ve done or want to try, and celebrate each one together.
  • Family Story Time: Share stories (from books or family experiences) where someone showed courage.
  • Courage Challenge: Pick one small thing this week that feels a little scary – and do it together!
  • Draw or Write: Make a poster of what courage means to you and display it at home.

This theme links beautifully to our school vision: Love, Learn, Shine. Courage helps us love others by standing up for what’s right, learn by trying new things, and shine by becoming the best version of ourselves.
