Across St Peter’s this week, our children have been celebrating the joy and power of reading in true Love, Learn, Shine style. From the challenge of crafting miniature stories to dreaming big about their futures, every class embraced World Book Day with imagination, ambition and pride.
✨ Owls Class (Year 3): Ten Tiny Tales – A Challenge in Just 10 Words!
Owls Class took on the tricky task of creating their own ‘Ten Tiny Tales’ – mini‑stories told in just 10 words. As many of the children quickly realised, writing something meaningful and imaginative with such a small word count is much harder than it sounds!
It meant carefully selecting vocabulary, crafting structure with intention, and ensuring every single word earned its place. The result? A collection of original, creative micro‑stories that show just how powerful a child’s developing writer’s voice can be.
Miss Wilson said: “The children amazed us with how thoughtful and imaginative they were. Limiting the word count really helped them focus on vocabulary, precision and purpose — and they rose to the challenge brilliantly!”
🦅 Eagles Class : Little People With BIG Dreams!
Over in Eagles Class, our older children took inspiration from the hugely popular Little People, BIG DREAMS series — the books that celebrate designers, scientists, artists and other remarkable individuals.
The children designed their very own book covers, imagining themselves as the remarkable grown-ups they hope to become.
From future lawyers to script writers, inventors and engineers, each cover features a vibrant self‑portrait and a confident declaration of their aspirations.
These beautiful covers are now proudly displayed across the Eagles’ lockers — a daily reminder to dream boldly, believe in themselves and continue shining brightly.
Mrs Williams said: “The children’s ambitions were inspiring, and their artwork was wonderful. Seeing them visualise their futures with such pride and confidence is exactly what World Book Day is all about.”
We’re pleased to share below a selection of the children’s impressive cover designs from Eagles Class — each one full of talent, personality and big dreams.
💛 Reading Matters
World Book Day reminds us that reading is not just a skill — it’s a doorway into imagination, empathy and endless possibility.
As author Mary Pope Osborne once said:
“Reading is the passport to countless adventures.”
And at St Peter’s, we believe those adventures help our children love deeply, learn bravely and shine brightly.
