📘 Spring End‑of‑Term Reports & Parent Consultation Meetings

We are delighted to share important information about this spring’s end‑of‑term reports and upcoming Parent Consultation Meetings. As always, our aim is to keep families informed, supported, and involved in every child’s journey to Love, Learn and Shine.

Listening to Families, Supporting Teachers

Earlier this year, following helpful feedback from parents and carers, we introduced short end‑of‑term written reports to provide clearer, more regular updates on each child’s progress. Many families told us they valued timely insights and appreciated updates that helped them make the most of Parent Consultation Meetings.
At the same time, we know that families deeply value teachers who are fully focused on planning enriching lessons, clubs, trips, and experiences that help children flourish. By using our Management Information System—Arbor—more effectively, we can give parents the information they need while maintaining staff wellbeing and workload balance.

What Has Changed?

The trial reports introduced at the end of the autumn term were well‑received, and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to complete the feedback surveys. Following this feedback, the spring report includes three adjustments to make information clearer:
  • ⭐ Merits are now included so families can celebrate their child’s positive choices.
  • 📚 Curriculum descriptors are separated into clearer sections (Reading, Writing, Maths, and other subjects).
  • 🎯 Learning behaviour wording has been refined to better describe attitudes without suggesting learning behaviours always match academic progress.

Key Dates for Families

Please note the following dates for reports and consultation bookings:

📝 Report Release

  • Reports sent: From mid‑morning Wednesday 25 March 2026
  • Contact us only if not received by: 9.30am Thursday 26 March
Sending over 200 reports takes some time, so releasing them mid‑week means we can respond promptly if needed. Families then have the Easter break to read through the report before meeting teachers.

💬 Parent Consultation Meetings

  • Tuesday 21 April 2026 — 3.45pm to 7.50pm
  • Thursday 23 April 2026 — 3.45pm to 7.50pm
  • Booking opens: Monday 20 March 2026 at 6.00pm via Arbor
All appointments are available on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Booking opens in the evening to ensure fair access for all families.

What to Expect in the Report

Reports remain simple, clear and focused on key information that supports meaningful conversations:
  • Attendance
  • Behaviour and merits
  • Attitudes to learning
  • Current attainment against expected standards
Some subjects may appear blank if they are taught in blocks and haven’t yet been covered this year.
Families will receive a similar short report at the end of the spring term, followed by a more detailed report in the summer.

Working Together for Every Child

Parents are welcome to speak with teachers at other times during the year—brief queries can be shared at drop‑off or pick‑up, and further appointments can be arranged via the school office. For children with Individual Learning Plans, additional meetings will take place as usual.

❓ End‑of‑Term Reports: Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Arbor and how do I access it?

Arbor is our secure online platform for communication and reports. It is available through the Parent Portal on a browser or via the Arbor Parent App.

2. What if I don’t receive my child’s report?

Please wait until 9.30am on Thursday 26 March before contacting us. After that, email or call the school office.

3. Why are there gaps in some reports?

Some subjects are taught in blocks. If your child hasn’t yet studied a subject this year, that section may appear blank.

Yes. The short reports support consultations during the year. The full, detailed report is still provided in the summer term.

Attendance, merits, learning behaviours, current attainment, and—where relevant—information from standardised tests. Test papers and results can be discussed during April’s parent meetings.

6. Can I see my child’s teacher at other times in the year?

Absolutely. Teachers are available for brief messages each morning and afternoon, and appointments can be arranged through the school office when needed.

7. Why do appointments show as 12 minutes?

Meetings remain 10 minutes long, with a 2‑minute transition built in to ensure a calm, smooth evening for families.
