🌟 Putting on the Right Attitude – Living Out Compassion in Our School

Today, our children gathered for an inclusive and invitational worship led by Mr Griffiths, focusing on the theme “Putting on the Right Attitude” from Colossians 3:12:
“Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Mr Griffiths reminded us that just as we put on our school uniform each morning, we can also “put on” these attitudes in our hearts. He shared:

“When we choose compassion and kindness, we make our school a place where everyone feels valued and cared for.”

The worship included thoughtful discussions and drama scenarios showing everyday ways to show compassion – whether it’s helping a friend who feels worried, supporting someone who’s had a tough day, or simply noticing when someone needs a smile. It was also a joy to welcome one of our new governors, Mrs Knott, who joined us to see worship in action. Her presence was a wonderful reminder of the strong partnership between our school and its community. As part of our vision to Love, Learn, Shine, today’s worship encouraged every child to reflect on how they can bring these values into their daily lives. Compassion isn’t just a word – it’s something we wear proudly, like our uniform, in all that we do.
Reflection Question for Families
When have you seen your child show compassion or kindness recently? How did it make you feel?
Follow-Up Ideas for Home
  • Talk Together: Ask your child, “What does it mean to ‘put on’ compassion like clothes?” Encourage them to share examples from today’s worship.
  • Role Play: Create simple scenarios at home (e.g., a friend feeling worried or someone losing something) and ask, “What could we say or do to show kindness?”
  • Family Challenge: Choose one value from Colossians 3:12 – compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, or patience – and make it your family focus for the week. Share stories at dinner about how you lived it out.
