πŸ„ Signing Together: Year 6 Makaton Leaders Help Our Children Shine🌟

Our popular Makaton lunchtime club has been busy learning new signs this week, led by Mrs Jones, Miss Ward and our wonderful Year 6 Makaton leaders. Together, the children explored signs for some common farmyard animals, including cow, sheep, chicken, pig and horse.
Once they had mastered the new signs, our confident Year 6 leaders took on an extra special role. They visited other classes to teach the rest of the children and even staff how to use the new farmyard signs. It was a lovely opportunity to see older and younger children learning side by side, showing patience, kindness and real enthusiasm.
Clubs like Makaton are a powerful way for our school community to live out our vision to Love, Learn, Shine.
  • We love by including everyone in communication.
  • We learn new skills that help us understand and support one another.
  • We shine as children grow in confidence, leadership and care for others.

Mrs Jones shared how proud she is of the children involved:
β€œOur Makaton club is all about helping every child to feel included and able to communicate,” said Mrs Jones. β€œWatching our Year 6 leaders teach the younger children was a real β€˜shine’ moment – they were so patient, encouraging and enthusiastic. It’s wonderful to see children of all ages learning together and having fun.”
A big well done to all the children (and staff!) who joined in this week. We can’t wait to see what the Makaton club will be signing next!
