🌟 Love, Learn, Shine Through PE – Celebrating Our Sporting Journey – Sporting Influence Partnership – Inspiring Children Through Sport🌟

At St Peter’s, we believe in giving every child the chance to Love, Learn and Shine, and our long-standing partnership with Sporting Influence is a shining example of this vision in action. Each year, this collaboration grows stronger, bringing exciting opportunities for children and staff alike.
This year, we are delighted to welcome Mr Cameron Osburn, who works with us every Monday and Wednesday to support the delivery of high-quality PE lessons and after-school provision. Cameron brings a wealth of experience – he previously represented England Para Football, making him an inspiring role model for our children.

What’s Happening Each Week?

  • Mondays: A joint Early Years and Key Stage One club with Headteacher Mr Griffiths, focusing on fun, movement and teamwork.
  • Wednesdays: A KS2 after-school sports club, giving older children the chance to develop technical skills and enjoy competitive games.
Our staff also benefit hugely from working alongside Cameron, building confidence and expertise in delivering engaging PE lessons. This partnership ensures sustainability and quality in PE across the school.

Sporting Influence – Core Values and Mission

Sporting Influence is driven by a clear mission:
“To use the power of sport to inspire positive behaviour, teamwork and resilience in children.”
Their core values include:
  • Respect – valuing others and playing fairly.
  • Teamwork – working together to achieve shared goals.
  • Resilience – learning to overcome challenges and keep trying.
  • Positivity – encouraging confidence and enjoyment in every activity.
These values align perfectly with our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine, helping children grow not only as athletes but as confident, respectful individuals.

Children Learning and Growing

Through PE lessons and clubs, children have explored sports such as Outdoor Adventurous Activities, Multi-skills, Netball and Handball. They’ve developed not only physical skills but also vital social skills like teamwork, communication and respect. These improvements are evident across school life – from corridors to competitions!

Competitions and Beyond

Our partnership extends beyond the school day. Children regularly take part in weekly competitions at Rossett and Harrogate High, representing St Peter’s with pride and testing themselves against other schools. During school holidays, links with Sporting Influence continue through sports camps at Ashville, where children can keep their love of sport alive.

Quotes That Shine

Dave Moss, Founder of Sporting Influence, says:
“Sporting Influence have worked closely with St Peter’s for the last four years, delivering weekly teacher training to upskill staff and build confidence in PE. Our experienced teachers lead sessions, reflect with staff and ensure sustainability for the future. We also provide free camp places for families who need support – something we’re proud to offer as part of our Foundation aims.”
Mr Cameron Osburn adds:
“It’s been a pleasure working with the staff and children at St Peter’s this term. Their positivity and engagement in PE lessons have been fantastic. From adventurous activities to team games, children have developed technical skills and social skills like respect and communication. I’m excited to continue supporting PE delivery and seeing confidence grow across the school.”

Why It Matters

This partnership is about more than sport it’s about giving children the chance to shine, building staff confidence, and creating a culture where everyone loves learning through physical activity. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to many more years of success.
