🎭 Shapes, Circles and Sparkle – Year 6 Dance Journey💃

Dec
While Year 5 children have been making a splash at swimming, our Year 6 children in Ravens and Eagles have been stepping into the world of dance with Mr Ratcliffe. They’ve worked incredibly hard to develop their dance knowledge and skills, exploring shapes and circles to create imaginative sequences of movement.
Through partnering and artistry, the children have shown fantastic teamwork and creativity. Their routines were full of expression and originality, truly reflecting our school vision to Love, Learn, Shine.
Mr Ratcliffe shared his thoughts on their progress:
“It’s been wonderful to see the children’s confidence grow as they experiment with movement and storytelling through dance. Their creativity and enthusiasm have been inspiring!”
We are so proud of the way our Year 6 children embraced this challenge – their imagination really shone through every performance!

Questions to Ask Your Child
  • What shapes and movements did you use in your dance sequence?
  • How did you work with your partner to create your routine?
  • What was your favourite part of the dance lesson and why?
  • How did you show creativity in your movements?

Ideas for Follow-Up at Home
  • Create a mini performance: Ask your child to teach you one of their dance sequences and perform it together.
  • Explore music and movement: Put on a favourite song and see what shapes and patterns you can create as a family.
  • Talk about teamwork: Discuss how working with a partner helped them learn new skills and why collaboration is important.
  • Link to storytelling: Encourage your child to create a short dance that tells a story – maybe about a favourite book or a family memory.
