🎨 Sparrows Discover the Magic of Mixing Green!

Jan

Today in Year Two, Sparrows Class stepped into the wonderful world of colour mixing as part of their Art learning journey. Guided by Miss Corrigan, the children explored how secondary colours are created and how artists can adjust shades to bring their work to life.
Miss Corrigan shared:
“Today in Art, we have been learning about and practising colour mixing. Our focus was the colour green. We recapped that blue and yellow can be mixed together to make green, and then explored how to change the shade of green. The children experimented with adding different amounts of blue and yellow to create a range of greens, noticing how more of one colour changed the result. We are excited to continue experimenting with other secondary colours and will next explore the effect of adding white and black to change tones and shades. We can’t wait to use all of the skills we are learning in our final art piece.”
The children loved experimenting with how even tiny adjustments could transform one shade of green into another—discovering the joy of being real artists and embracing the curiosity that sits at the heart of our Love, Learn, Shine vision.
With growing confidence and creativity, Sparrows are now excited to move on to mixing other secondary colours and exploring how white and black can shift tones and shades. All these new skills will soon come together in a beautifully planned final artwork—one we cannot wait to see shining with their individuality and imagination.
