Library Adventures: Kingfishers enjoy Library Visit & help Celebrate 120 Years of Stories

Yesterday our Year One children in Kingfishers Class enjoyed a wonderful trip to our local library which is less than a minute’s walk from school. The visit was packed with excitement, learning, and creativity, as the children explored the world of books and celebrated a very special milestone.
Armed with their very own and our class library cards, the children were thrilled to borrow books of their choice, discovering both fiction and non-fiction titles that sparked their imaginations. They also learned how the library works from how books are organised to the systems that help them find their favourites. It was a brilliant way to build independence and a love of reading.
To mark the library’s upcoming 120th anniversary in January, the children designed beautiful bunting to help decorate the space. Their artwork will be part of the celebrations, showing how proud we are to be part of this community treasure.
We’re incredibly lucky to have such a welcoming and inspiring library so close to school, and we’re grateful for the strong relationship we share with the library team. A huge thank you to them for making the visit so special and for always supporting our children’s learning journeys. This visit truly reflects our school vision – Love, Learn, Shine – as the children showed curiosity, creativity, and community spirit every step of the way.
