✨ Love, Learn, Shine: Exploring Gratitude This Christmas🌟 Thankfulness Chains and Big Questions in RE

Today in RE, Kingfishers children continued exploring the big question:
β€œWhy does Christmas matter to Christians?”
We thought deeply about the characters in the Christmas Story and what they might have been thankful for at that special time. Together, we reflected on what Christians – and we ourselves – are thankful for during Christmas.
To celebrate our ideas, the children created a beautiful thankfulness paper chain, each link showing something they are grateful for. From family and friends to kindness and joy, the chain is a wonderful reminder of the many blessings we share.

β€œIt was amazing to see the children thinking so carefully about gratitude and connecting it to the true meaning of Christmas. Their ideas were thoughtful and heartfelt – a lovely way to prepare for the festive season.”

Follow-Up Ideas for Home

  • Ask your child:
    • Why do Christians celebrate Christmas?
    • What are you most thankful for this Christmas?
    • How can we show kindness and gratitude to others during the holidays?

  • Try this activity:
    • Make your own thankfulness chain at home! Write down things your family is grateful for and link them together to decorate your home.
    • Read the Christmas Story together and talk about what each character might have felt.

This activity links beautifully to our school vision of Love, Learn, Shine – showing love through gratitude, learning about faith and traditions, and shining by sharing kindness with others.
