🍍 From Tasting to Making: Sparrows’ Colourful Food Tech Adventure!

Today, our Year Two children in Sparrows class began an exciting journey in Design Technology with Miss Corrigan. The focus? Food technology and healthy eating! We started by tasting a variety of fruits – from juicy strawberries to tangy pineapple – and explored their taste and texture. Children shared their thoughts and recorded their ideas in a table, thinking carefully about which combinations might taste delicious together. This is all in preparation for making rainbow fruit skewers, a fun and healthy snack that celebrates colour and creativity!

Fun Fruit Fact!

Did you know that kiwis have more vitamin C than oranges? They’re a super fruit that helps keep us healthy and strong!

Questions Parents Can Ask at Home

To help deepen your child’s learning, here are some great conversation starters:
  • Which fruit did you enjoy tasting the most today? Why?
  • Can you describe the texture of your favourite fruit? Was it smooth, crunchy, or juicy?
  • If you could design your own rainbow skewer, which fruits would you choose and why?
  • Why do you think eating a variety of fruits is good for us?
  • Can you think of any fruits from other countries that you’d like to try?
